Libros de Niños

A short description of the project.
  • How did you come up with your idea?
I wanted to write about the sport I love and connect with some of the kids in Nicaragua.
  • Tell about the project - books are headed to Nicaragua
This project was to write a book for kids to read (with the words we knew). These kids don't have a lot of books so we wanted to be able to let them read some books.
  • What do you hope students in Nicaragua will get out of your book?
I hope the children of Nicaragua will enjoy my book and like the story.

Dia de los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos is a mix of Catholic and native religions to celebrate loved ones who died. The Spanish wanted to make the Natives Catholic, so they combine Saints and Souls day with the native holidays to get Dia de los Muertos. It originated and is celebrated in Mexico. It's celebrated on November 1-2, which in the Catholic religion is Saints day and Souls day. Di de los Muertos is a massive party to honor loved ones with their favorite food, alters, sugar skulls, marigolds to draw the spirits in, pan de muerto which is traditional for the alter, and more. For this project I celebrated my grandma. My mom and I spent a while talking about her and gathering things for her alter. My mom, dad, and I got all the items to the exhibition and set up the alter. The exhibition was fun I got to run the snack booth. My parents loved the alter and they had fun. It was really crowed so it was hard to see some people alters or move so location could be improved. In some areas it was really dark so it was hard to see some alters. The music was also too loud to a point where I was screaming at my dad so he could hear me.  Otherwise it was a great exhibition and project and I had fun doing it. Heres my written description for my grandma:
